Krista Bennett, LCMHC-A
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate
Krista is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina. She graduated with honors from Northwestern University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Krista prefers an integrative, eclectic approach to therapy using modalities that include Psychodynamic, Adlerian, ACT, Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She fundamentally believes that a strong therapeutic relationship and a tailored approach to every individual is the most successful way to facilitate positive change. She strives to create a warm, creative, and non-judgmental space where you can feel heard and supported as you explore and navigate the challenges that brought you to therapy.
Krista comes to the field of mental health after a 25 year career as a performer in New York City and on Broadway. As a result, she specializes in working with dancers, performers, artists, athletes, and people going through life or career transitions. Krista enjoys working with anxiety, depression, veteran’s issues, women's issues, trauma, grief, self-esteem, marital discord, couples, mood disorders, and substance use.
Krista’s decision to embark on a second career helped provide her with insight and empathy for people who are struggling to find or renew their purpose and through the work of therapy and the therapeutic alliance she is confident that positive growth and changes can be achieved.
Krista lives in the Raleigh area with her son and husband as well as her two cats and one french bulldog. Krista grew up in Canada and is a big hockey fan who hopes the Toronto Maple Leafs can someday make it past the first round of the finals! She also loves to travel, being outdoors and going to watch concerts or theatre. Fun fact: Krista used to perform on cruise ships and has been to 60 countries. Experiencing cultures and meeting people around the world were a big reason Krista became a therapist to continue making human connections.
