Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor
Welcome to RDU Counseling for Change. I want to thank you for visiting us and learning more about my company. It all started with a dream in 2008 when I felt called to pursue Psychology. I was considering a change in careers and a friend reminded me that I had always been interested in counseling and suggested I consider this field. You see I had my own experience with counseling, as many counselors do, and it was transformative. I found my counselor to be a place of refuge, peace, and understanding. She educated me on my trauma and helped me to get to the other side of the pain and heartache where I found peace, hope, and confidence in myself and who I was created to be.
So with my friend’s encouragement and my own healing story, I knew that I wanted others to experience that same freedom. Not only that, but I wanted to be with them on the journey. I wanted to be an agent of change and hope for those in pain. I began graduate school in August 2009 and graduated with my Masters in Christian Counseling in January 2013. A couple months later, I had my licenses to practice.
I started by working for a local mental health clinic and gradually dipped my toes in private practice. As my caseload grew, I hated having to turn away those who called looking for help. After all, I was only one person and could not be there for everyone. So, my dream began to grow. I wanted to build a private practice where clinicians who shared this same passion and calling came together. I envisioned our staff being a beacon of hope and a conduit of change through which our clients would experience freedom.
So, in March 2019, I opened the doors to RDU Counseling for Change. I was grateful that my friend from graduate school, Kelley Baughman, agreed to join me in this journey. Since then, we have added to our numbers and continue to do so. I am so grateful to the Lord for giving me this dream and making it a reality. I also am grateful to my staff and how they live out this dream on a daily basis. Most of all, I am thankful to our clients for trusting us to be a part of their healing journey.
