Kierra Bennett, LCSW-A

Kierra is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSW-A) and life coach residing in Durham, NC. Kierra's background in social work has provided her ample experience in advocacy, case management, crisis intervention, and mental health challenges. She obtained her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 2018. She then continued her education and obtained a Master of Management and Leadership at Campbellsville University in 2019. Most recently, Kierra graduated from Campbellsville University with a Master of Social Work in May 2022.


Kierra began her social work career with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services in Louisville, Kentucky as a child protection social services worker. In that role, she continued campaigning for youth rights by serving as a liaison between students and their homes, schools, family service teams and other stakeholders. She relentlessly addressed legal issues surrounding child abuse, protection, and permanency within the court setting, on the behalf of youth in state custody.
 

Life experiences brought Kierra to Houston, TX where she expanded her expertise in crisis intervention and case management while working at the Resource and Crisis Center of Galveston County. In this role, her primary clientele were women who had become victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She played a strategic role in crisis intervention, staff development, and grant management. She then began her training and facilitation career working as the Mental Health First Aid Outreach Specialist at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD.
 

Kierra has a true passion for training and facilitation, particularly Mental Health First Aid. She is presently an instructor for the Adult, Youth, and Teen Mental Health First Aid curriculums. She is also a training facilitator for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and ASK+ Suicide Prevention curriculums.
 

Kierra is employed by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing as an Associate Implementation Specialist for Mental Health First Aid. In this role she manages the provisional instructor program, providing professional and instructional development to new and onboarding instructors. Kierra is pivotal in helping organizations reach their Mental Health initiatives through training and workplace consulting. She collaborates directly with the community in
reducing the negative stigma surrounding mental health challenges and increasing awareness of mental well-being.
